Univers Launches Global Impact AI Lab with AMD, Microsoft, and NUS to Drive Enterprise AI Innovation

Univers launches the Global Impact AI Lab with AMD, Microsoft, and NUS to accelerate enterprise AI and IoT innovations, driving efficiency across key sectors.

Singapore, 28 October 2025Univers has launched the world’s first Global Impact AI Lab (“IAL”) in a collaboration with AMD, Microsoft, and the National University of Singapore (NUS), with the support of the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore. This initiative aims to accelerate enterprise-scale AI and IoT/Edge innovations through an incubation program that combines cutting-edge technology, governance, and academic expertise to deliver edge-to-cloud intelligence at an unprecedented pace.

The IAL is positioned to drive AI-driven transformations across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, transportation, and manufacturing. Its mission focuses on three strategic vectors of efficiency: Energy Efficiency seeks to optimize the management of generation, storage, and consumption; Operational Efficiency aims to enhance the reliability and productivity of operations by connecting various assets and processes; and System Efficiency is focused on creating meaningful connections through AI-enabled orchestration across multiple industries.

The launch was officiated at the One Univers event by Mr. Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, highlighting Singapore’s commitment to fostering strong public-private partnerships that promote digital and AI innovation.

Michael Ding, Global Executive Director of Univers, emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “AI and IoT achieves its full potential when powered by strong partnerships. IAL unites leading industry and academic expertise to transform innovation into enterprise advantage.” In an era where mere digital adoption is insufficient, IAL aims to incubate solutions to real-world challenges, turning AI and IoT concepts into scalable, commercially viable applications. This unique ecosystem approach offers enterprises faster decision-making, operational agility, and a sustainable competitive edge.

Univers was recently recognized as a leader in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Global Industrial IoT Platforms, noted for its strong execution capabilities and clear strategic vision, particularly in forming strategic partnerships that bring together deep domain expertise with advanced technology.

The contributions of each partner to the IAL are noteworthy. AMD is focused on providing real-time, secure AI solutions at the edge for mission-critical operations. Yousef Khalilollahi, Corporate Vice President & GM of the Embedded Business Group at AMD, remarked, “AMD is collaborating with Univers on the IAL to accelerate innovation and showcase the benefits of heterogeneous computing for powering edge AI and enabling enterprises to operate smarter, faster, and more securely at scale.”

Microsoft plays a crucial role by optimizing infrastructure and operations through its AI and cloud platforms. Saj Kumar, Regional Business Leader for Manufacturing at Microsoft, stated, “This collaboration accelerates enterprise digital transformation by bringing intelligent, AI-powered solutions from concept to real-world impact.”

The NUS contributes by developing future-ready AI talent and bridging research with practical enterprise applications. Professor Bernard Tan, Senior Vice-Provost for Undergraduate Education at NUS, noted, “This collaboration reflects NUS’ commitment to building strong industry-academia partnerships that prepare our students to thrive in the age of AI. Through the Global Impact AI Lab, our students will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to apply their learning to address real-world challenges, helping to shape the next generation of AI-ready talent.”

In a rapidly evolving market, enterprises must leverage innovative partnerships to differentiate themselves. The Global Impact AI Lab aims to provide the tools necessary for this acceleration, transforming concepts into operational solutions that can be effectively implemented across various sectors.
