US Leads Delegation to Groundbreaking AI Impact Summit in India, Aiming for Global Tech Leadership

US President Trump’s AI delegation, led by Michael Kratsios, aims to showcase America’s AI innovation at the influential AI Impact Summit in India, featuring over 300 global exhibitors.

Michael Kratsios, Assistant to US President Donald Trump and director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, is set to lead the US delegation to the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, India, from February 16 to 20. Kratsios expressed his anticipation for the summit via a post on X, stating that “America is setting the gold standard for AI innovation and we want to share it with our global partners.”

The announcement of Kratsios’ involvement comes following a report by POLITICO, highlighting that he will provide updates on Trump’s America AI Exports program, initiated by executive order in July to promote US technology on a global scale. The delegation accompanying Kratsios will include key figures such as Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade William Kimmitt, and Undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Jeffrey Kessler.

According to the report, the AI Impact Summit represents one of the largest global gatherings of industry leaders and policymakers focused on artificial intelligence. Notably, this marks the first occasion the event will be hosted in the Global South, emphasizing India’s growing influence in the international tech landscape.

The summit will feature a comprehensive five-day program emphasizing policy, research, industry, and public engagement, anchored on three foundational pillars, or “Sutras”: People, Planet, and Progress. It aims to foster discussions around AI’s role in governance, innovation, and sustainable development.

As part of the summit, the India AI Impact Expo will showcase more than 300 exhibitors spanning 30 countries, highlighting AI’s transition from theoretical research to practical applications. Spanning over 70,000 square meters, the expo underscores the global momentum surrounding AI innovations.

India’s approach to AI focuses on development and aims to align with the goals of the IndiaAI Mission and Digital India Initiative. The summit will address how AI can enhance governance and public service through applications in various sectors, including healthcare with remote diagnostics, agriculture with crop prediction, education through personalized learning, and finance via fraud detection.

The Indian government has recognized AI’s strategic significance, prioritizing the development of AI compute infrastructure and indigenous models to encourage responsible adoption. The summit’s discussions will be organized around seven thematic “Chakras,” which include Human Capital, Inclusion for Social Empowerment, and AI for Economic Growth and Social Good. These themes are designed to promote multilateral cooperation and shared learning among stakeholders.

Pre-summit events and regional AI conferences across several Indian states, including Gujarat and Rajasthan, will inform the main agenda, reflecting the summit’s commitment to grassroots engagement. With over 700 proposals received for discussion, the main summit will feature sessions that span all seven Chakras, alongside the release of the AI Compendium, documenting real-world applications of AI across various sectors.

Flagship initiatives at the summit include AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge, AI by HER: Global Impact Challenge, and YUVAi: Global Youth Challenge. A Research Symposium dedicated to AI’s impacts will take place on February 18, while the AI Impact Expo will serve as a crucial platform for connecting innovators and investors.

Supported by key institutions such as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the IndiaAI Mission, the summit aims to enhance governance frameworks, promote ethical AI practices, and boost workforce readiness. The anticipated outcomes include practical AI deployment across priority sectors and improved policy alignment, positioning India as a pivotal player in the global AI landscape.

As nations increasingly recognize the strategic importance of AI, the upcoming AI Impact Summit in India represents a significant milestone in fostering international collaboration and advancing global AI strategies.
