Nigeria’s technology and business leaders convened last week for a high-profile event organized by Teknowledge President/CEO Aileen Allkins and Territory Director Africa Olugbolahan Olusanya. The gathering, aimed at exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), customer experience, leadership transformation, and national skills development, attracted top executives, innovators, and policymakers.
The week commenced with the Executive Think Tank: The AI-First Evolution event, themed “Transforming Customer Experience Through Agentic AI.” C-level executives, technology leaders, and enterprise decision-makers examined how Agentic AI is reshaping customer experience. A recurring theme in discussions was the compression of competitive timelines, wherein companies are no longer just competing based on products or services but also on how effectively they integrate AI into customer engagement and operational frameworks.
Aileen Allkins emphasized this point during the session, stating, “Competitive relevance now depends on how quickly organizations adopt AI capabilities, noting that business leaders must move at the pace of the fastest innovators in their industry.” The implication is clear: speed of AI adoption is becoming a critical determinant of success.
Participants uniformly recognized that customer experience (CX) stands as the most immediate and visible area undergoing AI-driven transformation. Organizations are shifting from traditional automation tools to Agentic AI systems capable of managing intelligent interactions across various customer touchpoints. These advanced systems allow businesses to anticipate customer needs, personalize engagements, and deliver services on a broader scale.
At the event, Asli Uysal, Global SVP of Sales and Alliance at Teknowledge, led a comprehensive exploration of the ongoing transformation of CX enabled by Agentic AI. Joining her were Senthil Shanmugam, Senior Consultant for CX/AI, and Adewale Adeyemi, Head of Executive Business Development. Their session highlighted emerging frameworks and practical use cases that are redefining customer engagement. A particular highlight was the participation of Damilola Osikoya, Founder and CEO of Voyagequest, who shared insights on the evolving role of AI in the global transport industry and its effectiveness in enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The discussion further progressed in a session titled “Reinventing Customer Engagement Through Agentic AI,” led by Temi Odude, Senior AI Solutions Architect at Microsoft. This presentation examined how autonomous AI agents and intelligent orchestration platforms are transforming customer interactions, enabling enterprises to move toward more predictive and seamless service experiences.
While innovation was a central theme, the event also focused on the necessity for responsible AI deployment and the establishment of robust governance frameworks. A fireside discussion on “Ethical Governance of AI in the Modern Workplace” included cybersecurity and technology leaders who explored essential safeguards as organizations increase their AI adoption. The panel, moderated by Asli Uysal and featuring Frances Undelikwo, CISO of Nova Bank; Emmanuel Etuk, Senior Technology Leader at World Trade Centre; and Kelvin Agaje, Cybersecurity Lead at Teknowledge Nigeria, underscored the importance of cybersecurity measures, data governance, regulatory compliance, and executive accountability to ensure responsible AI use.
Another critical insight from the discussions was the widening gap between AI experimentation and executive readiness. While technical teams are increasingly testing AI capabilities, many organizations are still striving to develop the leadership frameworks essential for strategic scaling.
Conversations at the event underscored a significant point: artificial intelligence is reshaping industries at an unprecedented pace. Organizations that will thrive in this evolving landscape are those that can blend innovation with responsible governance and a sustained commitment to talent development. For Nigeria, with its expanding technology ecosystem and youthful population, the potential for growth and transformation is substantial.
