HP has outlined its latest push into enterprise technology at its Imagine conference in New York last week, unveiling a range of new systems and platforms centred on artificial intelligence, security, and workplace connectivity. A major focus of the announcements was HP IQ, a new on-device intelligence layer designed to manage AI tasks directly on business PCs. Built around a local language model, the system determines whether requests should be handled on the device or sent to the cloud, aiming to improve speed while keeping sensitive information within company control.
HP IQ is expected to debut on next-generation EliteBook X G2 laptops and introduces a new interface that allows users to interact using voice or text. It can analyse documents, summarise content, and assist with organising notes or capturing ideas during meetings. The system also keeps a searchable record of interactions to help improve productivity. The platform includes a feature called NearSense, which enables devices to detect others nearby and share files instantly. Users can transfer documents, join meetings, or connect to equipment without additional setup. HP plans to extend this capability across its broader ecosystem, including conferencing systems, printers, and workstations.
Security was another key theme, with the company introducing TPM Guard, a hardware-based safeguard designed to address vulnerabilities in existing encryption systems. The solution is intended to prevent physical attacks that attempt to intercept communication between a device’s Trusted Platform Module and its processor, a method that can be used to bypass BitLocker encryption. HP says the new approach creates a secure link between components, rendering data inaccessible if tampering occurs.
Alongside software and security developments, HP revealed a series of new high-performance machines aimed at professional users. The Z8 Fury G6i desktop is built for demanding workloads such as artificial intelligence development, simulation, and visual effects, with support for multiple high-end GPUs and next-generation processors. The company also introduced an expandable chassis design that allows larger components to be installed without tools.
For mobile professionals, HP announced updated ZBook models including the ZBook X G2i and ZBook 8 range, offering workstation-level performance in a portable format. These devices are designed for engineers, designers, and developers, with options for advanced graphics, large memory configurations, and improved efficiency. HP claims performance gains in design applications, with some tasks completing more than three times faster compared with earlier systems. The company also highlighted updates to its Z Boost platform, which allows multiple users to share GPU resources across devices, helping to increase utilisation and reduce reliance on individual hardware.
In addition to these announcements, HP demonstrated its Dimension system developed with Google, which uses Beam technology to create a three-dimensional communication experience. The setup employs multiple cameras and spatial audio to give the impression of a person appearing physically present, even when they are located elsewhere. While not entirely indistinguishable from reality, the system offers a more immersive alternative to traditional video calls and points towards future collaboration tools. The technology comes at a significant cost, with the system priced at around A$38,500 before licensing, limiting its use to larger organisations with advanced infrastructure.
HP IQ is expected to enter early access in spring 2026, with broader availability planned later in the year across selected laptops, desktops, and conferencing devices. New hardware announced at the event is also scheduled to roll out progressively through 2026, although pricing for many models has not yet been confirmed. The company’s latest announcements underline its strategy to combine AI, hardware performance, and security as it looks to reshape how businesses operate in increasingly digital environments.
