Safe Pro Launches NODE-X Miniaturized AI Edge Processor for Military Drone Footage Analysis

Safe Pro Group launches NODE-X, an AI-powered edge processor for drone image analysis, enhancing military threat detection with real-time data from 2.6M images.

Safe Pro Group Inc. (Nasdaq: SPAI), a developer of AI-enabled defense and security solutions, announced the commercial launch of its NODE-X processor at a U.S. Army exercise focused on rapid AI threat detection and mission planning. The event took place on April 13, 2026, in Aventura, Florida, following the company’s recent government contract win.

NODE-X, a miniaturized AI-powered edge compute processor designed for drone footage analysis, aims to enhance military maneuver support missions. The company plans to integrate NODE-X into further U.S. Army exercises throughout the second quarter of 2026, signaling its intent to scale up production to meet growing demand in the defense sector.

The NODE-X serves as the latest advancement in Safe Pro’s suite of AI tools, facilitating rapid processing of drone imagery for applications such as AI threat detection, 3D mapping, and automated route guidance. The unit is designed for portability, equipped as a backpack kit that contains a powerful edge compute server and rugged GPU laptops running Safe Pro’s OnSight software. This system is compatible with U.S. Army-approved Short-Range Reconnaissance (SRR) drones.

Utilizing patented Safe Pro Object Threat Detection (SPOTD) technology, NODE-X employs AI and machine learning algorithms trained on an extensive dataset of real-world imagery gathered from Ukraine, which includes 2.6 million drone images and 47,000 confirmed threats like landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). The technology operates independently from connectivity, enabling real-time AI threat detection while generating detailed 3D models, orthomosaics, and digital surface models that provide crucial battlefield insights.

“Building on over three years of real-world experience in the field and incorporating soldier feedback, we are excited to introduce NODE-X, the next generation of our AI-powered edge solution for drone imagery processing designed for rapid battlefield intelligence,” said Dan Erdberg, Chairman and CEO of Safe Pro Group Inc. “NODE-X was created to meet end-user requests for a compact, high-performance, turnkey solution for analyzing drone footage to detect threats and rapidly inform mission planning.”

NODE-X’s intuitive software interface and quickly deployable design are tailored to enhance the situational awareness of soldiers and military commanders, making it suitable for a wide range of reconnaissance missions. The SPOTD platform automates the detection and classification of explosive threats and other objects of interest, converting raw video into high-resolution 2D and 3D geospatial models that can be swiftly shared to support decision-making in various operational contexts.

Safe Pro boasts that the SPOTD platform can identify over 150 types of landmines and UXO, thereby enabling scalable situational awareness across extensive, high-risk areas. This capability aligns with the increasing modernization efforts within military operations, where the demand for effective AI solutions is surging.

At AIPressa, my work focuses on exploring the paradox of AI in cybersecurity: it's both our best defense and our greatest threat. I've closely followed how AI systems detect vulnerabilities in milliseconds while attackers simultaneously use them to create increasingly sophisticated malware. My approach: explaining technical complexities in an accessible way without losing the urgency of the topic. When I'm not researching the latest AI-driven threats, I'm probably testing security tools or reading about the next attack vector keeping CISOs awake at night.
