Philips Launches Verida: Transformative AI-Driven Spectral CT Cuts Exam Time by 50%

Philips unveils the Verida CT system, cutting exam times by 50% to under 30 seconds, while enhancing diagnostic confidence with AI-driven precision.

Philips is set to unveil its latest innovation, the Verida CT system, at the upcoming RSNA 2025, with availability in select markets starting in 2026. Designed to revolutionize cardiac imaging, Verida promises to enhance diagnostic confidence and streamline radiology workflows. According to Prof. Eliseo Vañó Galván, Chairman of the CT & MR Department at Hospital Nuestra Sra. Del Rosario in Madrid, Spain, “The clinical benefits of Verida will fundamentally change my approach to cardiac imaging.” With the goal of making spectral imaging routine, he emphasized the need for precision in a user-friendly platform, highlighting Philips’ choice over other systems.

Verida’s capabilities include reconstructing 145 images per second, allowing entire exams to be completed in less than 30 seconds. This performance is double the speed of previous systems, enabling clinicians to conduct up to 270 exams daily. The system leverages Philips’ proprietary Spectral Precise Image technology, which integrates a deep learning AI reconstruction engine and advanced spectral imaging, alongside its third-generation Nano-panel Precise dual-layer detector.

“Combining the latest advances in our proven spectral CT technology with AI, our flagship Verida CT system is designed to set a new standard in superior image quality and accelerated scans which are fully embedded in the radiology workflow,” stated Dan Xu, Business Leader of CT at Philips. He underscored the importance of reducing variability in diagnoses and supporting efficient treatment pathways, asserting that Verida stands to enhance clinical outcomes while operating at a significantly lower total cost of ownership compared to photon-counting CT systems.

Streamlining workflows, Verida also addresses operational challenges in high-demand clinical environments. It aims to reduce the number of repeat scans and ensure consistently sharp imaging across various care pathways. This initiative highlights Philips’ commitment to advancing both clinical and operational outcomes through a software-defined CT approach that leverages AI-driven spectral precision.

Philips’ strategic focus on improving diagnostic imaging aligns with broader industry trends toward integrating artificial intelligence in healthcare. As healthcare providers increasingly seek technologies that enhance patient care while optimizing operational efficiency, Verida is positioned to play a significant role in the evolution of cardiac imaging and beyond.

With plans for showcasing Verida at RSNA 2025, the anticipation surrounding its impact on clinical practice continues to grow. The system not only reflects Philips’ dedication to innovation in medical imaging but also sets the stage for advancements that could transform diagnostics across multiple specialties.
