Singapore Unveils First Agentic AI Governance Framework; Armor Aids ASEAN Compliance Efforts

Singapore launches the first Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI, while Armor’s initiative promises a 29-fold reduction in security incident response time across ASEAN.

SINGAPORE, Feb. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Singapore has taken a pioneering step in artificial intelligence governance by becoming the first country to release a comprehensive governance framework for agentic AI. Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo announced the Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI at the World Economic Forum. This framework mandates that organizations uphold human accountability for AI agents, put in place technical controls, and ensure transparency in their operations.

In a significant move to operationalize these new requirements, Armor, a global leader in cloud-native managed detection and response, has launched an initiative encompassing Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This initiative aims to assist enterprises in navigating the complexities introduced by the new governance framework. Armor’s expertise in securing AI-driven enterprises will be pivotal to this effort, particularly following its success with a healthcare technology firm that utilized GenAI tools to serve over 800 health systems. The partnership led to a remarkable 29-fold reduction in mean time to respond (MTTR) for security incidents.

“Singapore’s Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI (MGF) recognizes what we’ve been telling clients: AI agents that can act autonomously need the same security rigor as any privileged user,” said Chris Drake, Founder and CEO of Armor. “You wouldn’t give an employee access to sensitive systems without visibility and controls. The same logic applies to AI.”

Central to Armor’s strategy is Nexus, its unified security operations platform designed for teams managing their own Security Operations Centers (SOCs). Unlike traditional SOCs, which often rely on manual processes and fragmented ticketing systems, Nexus integrates operations and technology into a single platform, developed by practitioners who understand the intricacies of defending organizations. This innovative platform provides organizations with full visibility into their data, simplifying Microsoft security environments and facilitating compliance with governance frameworks.

Organizations interested in joining this initiative can reach out to Armor through its website, armor.com. As regulatory scrutiny around AI continues to mount, this multi-country initiative represents a proactive approach to compliance, allowing enterprises to better manage their AI systems and the associated risks.

Armor is recognized as a leader in cloud-native managed detection and response, serving over 1,700 organizations across 40 countries. The company provides cybersecurity, compliance consulting, and 24/7 managed defense, prioritizing transparency, speed, and results. By combining human expertise with AI-driven precision, Armor helps safeguard critical environments against evolving threats, reinforcing the need for resilience in the rapidly changing technological landscape.

This initiative not only underscores Singapore’s commitment to robust AI governance but also highlights an emerging trend in the ASEAN region, where countries are increasingly prioritizing compliance as AI technologies become more prevalent. As organizations grapple with the complexities of implementing AI responsibly, frameworks like Singapore’s Model AI Governance Framework may serve as essential guidelines for navigating the challenges ahead.
