LG and Qualcomm Unveil AI Cabin Platform for Next-Gen In-Car Infotainment at CES 2026

LG Electronics and Qualcomm launch the AI Cabin Platform at CES 2026, revolutionizing in-car infotainment with localized AI for enhanced safety and personalization.

LG Electronics has partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to introduce its next-generation AI Cabin Platform, a cutting-edge in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system. The unveiling is set to take place at CES 2026 in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9.

The AI Cabin Platform harnesses the power of generative artificial intelligence, utilizing vision-language models, large language models, and image generation techniques, all operating on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Elite. This system is designed to enhance the driving experience by integrating real-time data from both internal and external vehicle cameras to evaluate driving conditions and the driver’s state.

For instance, LG demonstrated that the system can issue alerts if it identifies an adjacent vehicle beginning to merge while assessing that the driver is unaware of the maneuver. Furthermore, the platform is capable of generating custom IVI user interfaces that adapt based on external conditions, offering a more personalized experience.

All AI processing occurs locally on the vehicle’s device, eliminating reliance on cloud connectivity for real-time operations. This approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also prioritizes privacy and data security for users.

Earlier this year at CES 2025, LG and Qualcomm showcased a high-performance computing platform aimed at unifying IVI systems with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) within a single control unit, based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Flex system-on-chip.

In a statement, Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle Solution Company, emphasized the goal of fostering innovation in mobility: “Based on our proven technology and global trust, we will continue expanding partnerships with innovators like Qualcomm Technologies to drive future mobility beyond the SDV to the AIDV. With the AI Cabin Platform, we are creating mobility that understands drivers and responds proactively to their needs and preferences, making every journey uniquely personal.”

Last year, LG Electronics previewed its latest in-cabin sensing technologies, developed in collaboration with US AI semiconductor design firm Ambarella, ahead of a full market launch. This strategic partnership underscores LG’s commitment to integrating advanced technology into automotive solutions, setting the stage for the future of connected vehicles.

The introduction of the AI Cabin Platform at CES 2026 marks a significant step forward in the evolution of in-vehicle technology. By combining AI capabilities with real-time data analysis, LG and Qualcomm are positioning themselves at the forefront of a rapidly changing automotive landscape where user experience and safety are paramount.

As the automotive industry shifts towards increasingly autonomous systems, innovations like the AI Cabin Platform play a crucial role in redefining driver interaction and vehicle functionality. The emphasis on localized AI processing not only supports immediate operational needs but also reflects a broader trend towards data privacy in vehicle technology.
